Development tests for racing tires using renewable raw materials were conducted for two days – July 18th and 19th at Fuji Speedway circuit following the Super Formula Round 6 also held at this racing track.

■As the end of this season’s testing is approaching, during these tests, Yokohama included DRY tire specially prepared with the final adjustments according to the spec to be supplied in the Super Formula in the next season. The first test day was blessed with dry, good, hot weather providing the perfect test conditions for the evaluation of three of the casing specifications and one of the compound specifications.

■As the end of this season’s testing is approaching, during these tests, Yokohama included DRY tire specially prepared with the final adjustments according to the spec to be supplied in the Super Formula in the next season.

■On the other hand, the second day of tests turned out to be a wet day, therefore finally allowing Yokohama the opportunity to test the wet tires specs for the very first time this season.The morning session proceeded under damp surface conditions with low rainfall, however, the afternoon test session was held on a wet track with high rainfall allowing for different comparisons under various wet conditions. A long milage evaluation was also carried out on the wet, finally allowing for a substantial amount of valuable data gained under wet weather conditions. In light of the successful tests on the wet, the next tests scheduled that were to be held at Mobility Resort Motegi in August under simulated wet conditions have now been postponed until November. Therefore, the next tire tests will be held in October at Suzuka Circuit – a track well known for its severe layout conditions, just before Super Formula’s last doubleheader weekend – rounds 9 and 10. The goal for these next tire tests will be to finalize the DRY tire tests for mass-production specifications with the aim to supply them in the next season.
