Development tests for racing tires utilizing renewable raw materials were held at Sportsland SUGO Circuit on June 20th and 21st following the SUPER FORMULA Round5.

■This year, the three tests that have been conducted so far, starting from Fuji Speedway, followed by Suzuka Circuit, and Autopolis International Circuit have been blessed with good weather which greatly contributed to the smooth evaluation of the DRY tire in its development progress. This time for the SUGO tests, based on the wet weather forecast, we had prepared an increased number of WET tires, however, during the two-day tests, the skies remained clear and sunny, allowing us to continue the tire evaluation focused on the further development of new DRY tires.

■The DRY tires were narrowed down from the test results at Autopolis to just one specification for the casing test and three specifications for the compound test, and the evaluation was conducted based on a menu to reconfirm the differences in feeling under distinct circuit characteristics.

■Because the tests are now in their final stages and the specifications have been narrowed down, this time we were able to concentrate and allocate a substantial part of the two days to long-run testing.One other major takeaway benefit from these two-day tests was to evaluate the tire wear under high-temperature conditions.

■For the next July tests again to be held at Fuji Speedway, Yokohama is presently preparing a new tire structure and a new compound with further fine-tuning of the specifications which have been already narrowed down from the main specifications.
